The Right Screed and Efficient Planning

April 2013

CSC Screeding prove these to be the absolute keys to meeting tight deadlines.
Efficient planning, a skilled work force and the right screeds are the absolute key to stay ahead of the ticking clock – as proven by screeding contractors CSC Screeding Ltd, with the record delivery of the Kuehne and Nagel project.
CSC Screeding Ltd set new standards, completing the screeding for 2500 sq.m area for supply chain giants Kuehne and Nagel, in a record time of 4.5 days. When the initial project deadline had been set as one week, CSC’s forward planning and efficient team work saw the project completed in less than 5 days-well ahead of the estimated finish date.
With three screed pumps in operation on the site for the majority of the project, and an additional screed pump as back up, CSC ensured the smooth completion of the project, taking every possible step to prevent delays from unexpected eventualities.
The Kuehne and Nagel project
Having been in the industry for over 24 years, and having been part of some of the most prestigious construction projects in the UK-including the 2012 Athletes Village, Arcelormittal Orbit, Wimbledon Central Court, Dublin Airport Terminal 2, London’s most prestigious luxury residences -One Hyde Park and the Lancasters, and the London Bulgari Hotel – CSC Screeding firmly believes there are no short cuts to achieving quality.
CSC Managing Director, Spencer Warner, better known in the industry as the ‘Screed Scientist’, says “Careful planning, attention to detail and the flexibility to accommodate unexpected plan changes are the key when handling projects on a tight deadline. The screeder should have a thorough understanding of what can be achieved under the given time constraints, and of course make sure the right screed is chosen for the project”.
For heated floors, the screed layer generally acts as a complimentary conducting layer on top of the under floor heating system and helps in encapsulating the heat and reducing energy use. Traditional screeds can take up to 110 days to dry completely, and can drastically delay the commissioning of the underfloor heating system. Accelerated screeds like Flexidry, on the other hand help to bring down this waiting period to just 3, 7, 14 or 21 days – depending on the formulation – and is much easier to install – helping in speeding up the installation of final finishes.
Fast drying floor screed, FlexiDry F3 was used for the Kuehne and Nagel project, and was installed at a thickness of 75mm, over 2500 sq.m of under floor heating.
