Fireman Sam sets a safe new start for Sure Start Children's Centre, Wymondham

July 2012

After a visit by Contractor Farran’s ‘Safety Sam’ to the construction site at Ashleigh Infant School, it was rightly the turn of children’s favorite hero Fireman Sam to open the new Sure Start Children’s Centre by cutting the ribbon for the new building complex. The £800,000 building which has been constructed as an extension of the Wymondham Asheligh Infant School and Nursery will serve as a community centre for children under the age of five and their families.
The construction work by Farrans Construction Ltd, following the design by NPS Ltd, was carried out with special safety precautions to ensure the safety of the young tots. The Safety Sam team was specially flown in by the contractors from Ireland, to deliver a presentation for the kids and to present them with high visibility safety jackets for use during nature walks and other activities around the construction site.
CSC carried out the screeding for the building, playground and a new parking area with fast drying floor screed FlexiDry and calcium sulfate based screed Cemex Supaflo. Unlike traditional floor screeds which have a base of Portland cement, the calcium sulfate based Cemex Supaflo is only supplied to registered contractors who have workers specially trained in the use of the product. Having received specialized training in the use of different screeding systems, our expert team once again delivered to the high quality standards which our clients have come to identify as the trademark of CSC.
