This New Year has been quite special for the students of the West Acton Primary School; with brand new classrooms awaiting them after their Christmas break. CSC shares their joy and excitement as we laid the new screed for the ground and the first floors of the new school building.
West Acton Primary School, Ealing, is undergoing a major expansion to allow the ever increasing number of students. The school is expanding into a three-form entry school. The new two-storey school block consists of more than 12 classrooms, 4 offices, 4 group rooms, an ICT room, an art studio, a multifunctional hall and various special rooms for SEN (Special Educational Needs), covering about 1800 sq.m.
The design of the new building is such that it allows more light and gives a spacious feel. CSC is proud to have been part of this expansion. CSC screeded the two floors of the new building with high quality fast drying screed, FlexiDry F3. In the past years, CSC has carried out the screeding for more than 45 schools in the UK. The West Acton project was the newest addition to our School Portfolio.
CSC completed the floor screeding of the school using the Lewis Decking system. The Lewis Decking, is a steel composite system, which uses lightweight galvanized steel sheets in conjunction with our FlexiDry floor screed system. This helps in creating lightweight floors that are sound and fire resistant.
FlexiDry F3 used for the screeding of the new building ensured that the screed dried within the timeframe of 21 days as against the 110 days drying period for a traditional screed.
CSC laid the screed for the new school block on behalf of our principal client, Henry Brothers Ltd. With their wide range of experience in the construction field they succeeded in completing the project on time complying to ‘Construction Phase Health and Safety Plan’. Henry Brothers Ltd has always strived to achieve a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating for their projects and the West Acton Primary School expansion work was not any different.
